"THE C.O.M. NEWS", MARCH 2002 nr. 107

ANNEXE nr. 3

Section  F 2  -  EXOTICS - O.E.  (Ringed from 1 and/or 2 years)

ATTENTION: All Sections and their Classes will remain as listed in “The C.O.M. News” nr. 106, of September 2001, except the Section F2 and the Judging Point Score Cards for the Sections G and H, which have been changed as follows:

Section  F 2  -  EXOTICS - O.E.

(Ringed from 1 and/or 2 years)

Classes of the “Exotic” species (non Psittacidae):

The following new division in classes has been established as near as possible to the last published taxonomic elements (Ref.: Sibley & Monroe: “Distribution and Taxonomy of Birds of the World – 1990).

It has been organised by Families (Fringillidae, Emberizidae, ..., Estrildidae, etc.).

The classes are grouped either by species belonging to a same genus or by just similar species. They have been set up according to the species mostly exhibited at bird shows, although permitting entry to those ones more rarely bred.

The description of the classes is practically limited to the respective genera. Some genera are quite evident in several classes, while others, less expressive, have been regrouped.

For a more detailed information, a list as complete as possible and naming the species per class, has been separately published. However, it is not too much exhaustive, specially regarding Fruit-eaters, Insect-eaters and Nectar-feeders, considering the important number of these species not generally bred in captivity.

The vernacular names of some species may vary. So, their correct identification is made through the Latin scientific name.

Attention: This list, in general, does not assume but the nominal subspecies. Particular subspecies are only referred when their geographic distribution includes them in this section F2, as long as other representatives of the same species belong to another section (Section G – European Fauna, for instance).
